It all began in Indiana
The Cell Therapy Foundation story began in 2007 after a group of friends, who had recently lost a friend to cancer, decided more funds should be dedicated to adult stem cell research to fight diseases such as cancer, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, diabetes, stroke and many other disorders. The following mission and vision statements set the path for the organization:
Our Mission
The mission of Cell Therapy Foundation is to improve public health through the support of effective adult stem cell research and education by advancing basic and applied knowledge, processes and therapies.
Our Vision
Cell Therapy Foundation will be a premier source for the advancement of adult stem cell awareness, acceleration and development of useful research and therapies which will result in the global improvement of public health.
Cell Therapy Foundation is born to be global
Bringing together the adult stem cell research happening around the world was the first priority. In 2008, the Adult Stem Cell Research (ASCR) Network Web site, www.ascrnetwork.org, was launched to feature the progress of adult stem cell research laboratories across the world, to become a resource of breaking news about adult stem cells and to help link patients to available clinical trials.
Later that year, the Cell Therapy Foundation Web site, celltherapyfoundation.org, was launched to reach a global audience with the message of advancing awareness about adult stem cells and increasing disease research funding.
An advisory board of expert leaders from marketing, medicine, banking, nonprofit and medical device organizations was formed to advise the Foundation. Board members volunteer their service to the Foundation.
Cell Therapy Foundation has Tax Exempt Status
The Cell Therapy Foundation has tax exempt status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity.
A celebrity friend helps spread the word
In the summer of 2009, Cell Therapy Foundation met with world-renowned and beloved actor Dick Van Dyke. Dick has generously donated his time to help spread the word about the need for adult stem research.
